Mission Delores - The Mision San Francisco de Asis got its
familiar name from a nearby pond, La Laguna de Nuestra Senora de los Delores
(Our Lady of the Sorrows). The pond may have disappeared long ago, but the
mission, with its 4-foot-thick adobe walls, survives as the oldest building
in San Francisco.
